 Employee termination during CoVID19 pandemic in Sri Lanka



Thae CoVID19 pandemic In Sri Lanka made many human resource issues which were not experience on expected. Among them most crucial issue is termination of employment.

The labor crisis created by the covid19 pandemic has increased global unemployment by almost 25 million. The impact was several in the cases of seasonal labor such as in domestic constructions.

Working from home is not possible unless the technical supports are provided to the employees.

In Many works places the employments have been terminated by temporary non-employment because of non-availability of work.

Covid 19 pandemic has contributed to the imaging of many new forms of technologies driven employments in new normal conditions. Employees who are unable to work in technology, terminated for the reason of their inefficiency and incompetency.



Retaining of employment with deducted salary could minimized the termination.

With the implementation of the lock down and social distance measures, human resources were affected by losing work hours and jobs.

But some firms have overcome from this by allowing workers to work from home. But 13% of total employed persons who belongs to different occupational groups were unable to practice this due to difficulties I adapting to new technologies.

Human resource management should apply a sustainable approach to address this crisis by deploying and using the optimum numbers of personal in relevant post and time to enable to business to reach its goal by performing a strategic role motivation and job satisfaction of personal will increase the ultimate result of this approaches are decreasing cost and increasing profit(Mangaleswaram, 2020)
